Fire safety is a very important topic for you and your family. Especially if you have been reading the headlines these last few weeks. There seems to be a abundance of tragic stories.
I think our family is like most when it’s “Fire Prevention Week”. We read all the pamphlets our daughter brings home, look at all the batteries in the smoke detectors, review our escape plans. After going over all of it, we put it in the kitchen drawer. You know the one. Everything your not sure where to put, always goes in that particular drawer where it stays until its full, then it’s off to the garbage.
So the Baird family has decided to review it’s fire safety plans this week and we are inviting you to join us. Have your kids look at www.sparky.org , and play all the games, take the quizzes and they will have a great time learning. This site is geared for the kids. The 7 to 10 year olds could check out www.brantfordfire.ca, where they talk about floor plans, smoke and carbon dioxide alarms.
As for myself, and the other parents reading this, check out www.city.langley.bc.ca ! These folks cover it all and the visit to this site is more than worth it for the “sleep over fire safety” section. It will really make you think the next time your child ask to sleep over at a friends place.
