The Police Are Your Friends

Yes, our RCMP should be held to a higher standard. They should also receive many more accolades than they do. The next time you verbally bash the RCMP in front of your kids, please try and remember all the wonderful programs they conduct for our kids.

One of many examples is the RCMP youth website www.deal.org which is one of the very best websites for teens in Canada. And if you can't think of any thing nice to say about our National Police Force, please consider the following.

By bashing the RCMP in front of your children, you are creating a feeling of mistrust in your child when they might need the RCMP the most; when they are lost, hurt, scared or worst. Imagine a world where your child is to afraid to dial 911.

Back To School Safety Tips Video

Our little darlings are going back to school. This is a fun video featuring the staff of the Courtenay Future Shop store with good information on child safety.

Parents are looking forward to it and truth be told, so are the kids. Barber shops are full. Clothes and school supplies are starting to fly off the shelves. Which means it's time to brush up on our Back School Safety Tips so we can make sure our kids get there safely, learn, enjoy their day and get back home to tell us all about it.

Prevent Internet Luring

Parents need to get educated on at least the safety part of the internet if they want to know what their kids are up to. Keeping an eye on your kids in cyberspace is like keeping an eye on your kids at the playground. You would keep a really close eye on them when anyone other than another kid interacts with your child. Especially a grown up that showed up to the playground alone without kids. Read more...

Kids & Crime - Vandalism A Trilogy

Street Smart Kidz wants to tell kids that graffiti, tagging, destruction of public property is vandalism, which is against the law and is not a victimless crime..

We would like parents to inform their kids that they will have a criminal record if they are convicted of vandalism.  Vandalism may seem like a victim-less crime, but our Police and Courts disagree, as do the property owners, Towns and Cities, businesses and Peacekeepers who pay to have graffiti cleaned up.   Read More...

Your Valuable's or Your Life Video

The Valuables or your Life video was made to show children what to do if they are ever robbed on the street. Here in Canada, we average 16 children a day being robbed and countless others go unreported. We wanted to give our children the proper tools to deal with this situation as well as tell them what not to do.

The Code Word Video

Have a secret code word, that only you and your child know. When having someone else pick up your child, they must say the code word to the child or the child should refuse to go with them. Even if its a Aunt or Uncle, if they don't know the code word, the child should refuse to go with them. Remember to change the word after each usage, and remind your child what the word is once a week, until it's memorized.

Child Safety At Church

I wish this video was as much fun. Unfortunately, all important and urgent topics are not enjoyable. It doesn't make them any less important. On the contrary. The "uglies" are usually the hardest and scariest to write and make. Therefore we can't shy away from them. We must look them in the eye and conquer them. To conquer them we must face and discuss them. Which we will do now!
